Motorola W161 and W181

The new Motorola W161 and W181 have been recently announced as new additions to Motorola's W series. These phones are marketed as affordable handsets for everyday communication.

Motorola W161
The Motorola W161 (above left) is a very simple handset that offers all of the basic functions that are required from a mobile phone. It features an intuitive user interface with a large display and keypad, simple messaging and CrystalTalk technology. CrystalTalk separates voice from background and wind noise to produce loud and clear audio.

A nice feature of this phone is an integrated FM radio with stereo support and an enhanced FM radio user interface.

Motorola W230 - Music phone with long battery life

The Motorola W230 is a slim, pocket sized candy bar handset that offers mobile phone basics, a powerful music player and long-lasting battery life.

One of the standout features of the W230 is a dedicated music key for accessing the music player features. The integrated digital audio player supports MP3 and other popular formats such as iMelody, MIDI and AMR. A microSD card with up to 2GB of memory is available for storing songs.

An FM radio with RDS (Radio Data System) is also supported that can be played in stereo through headphones or on the internal speaker.

Motorola ROKR E8

The recently released Motorola ROKR E8 should grab anyone's attention who likes to use their mobile phone as a music player.

The ROKR E8 is designed for music. It features ModeShift technology that allow a smooth transition from phone to MP3 player to imaging device at the touch of a button. Another main feature of the user interface is the FastScroll navigation wheel which allows for for scrolling through songs, contacts and the image library with the slide of a thumb.

Motorola RAZR2 V8 - Enhanced Multimedia features

The Motorola RAZR V8 is the next generation RAZR focused on a thin design and enhanced multimedia experience.

As an owner of the older RAZR V3x model, the first thing I noticed about the RAZR V8 was that the external display has been made much larger. After further investigation, I discovered that Motorola have made the external display touch-sensitive with support for music player controls and the ability to read and reply to texts. Once the music player has been started, there is not need to open the phone.

My biggest disappointment with the RAZR2 V8 is that the camera has remained at 2.0 megapixels. This is the same resolution that was provided on the V3X model which is now about two years old.

But what the Motorola RAZR2 V8 lacks with its camera resolution, it makes up for with looks. This is a sleek looking model that features a stainless steel frame, vacuum metal housing, chemically hardened glass and spun metal and chrome.
